TMC best paper prizes

Migration Conferences
offer a friendly and frank academic environment for scholarly exchange while also being competitive. Every year, several prizes are awarded to the best
papers presented at the conference. Selections are made by a panel of expert judges from the scientific committees of the conference as well as via public
vote by conference participants. Past prize winners are listed below.

    • Best student paper prize: Alexander Hoogenboom for his paper titled “Turkish Nationals and the Right to Study in the European Union: A Progressive Interpretation”
    • Best student paper prize runner up: Jorg Hartmann for his paper titled “Segmentation or Assimilation over the Life Course? Career Mobility of Second Generation Turkish Women in Germany”

    Prize winners in TMiE 2012 London

    Best paper prize: Gulseli Baysu (Istanbul Kemerburgaz University & University of Leuven) and Helga De Valk (Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute & Vrije Universiteit Brussel) for their paper titled "School trajectories of the second-generation of Turkish immigrants in Sweden, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria and Germany: the role of school systems".

    Best paper prize runner up: Dr Isik Kulu-Glasgow (Ministry of Security and Justice, The Netherlands) for her paper titled: "Turkish Marriage Migration to the Netherlands: Trends, Policy and Coping Strategies of Turkish Immigrants"; co-authored with Arjen Leerkes and published in Migration Letters.
